The Socialite

ALONE
And introverted Hermit the Crab
Pondered his life on the beach––found it drab
One day as his pincers skittered along
He spied a beauty in shimmering thong.

Whined Hermit,"Permit me to blab my gab"
Misguidedly added, "Your claws look fab"
Frightened, the girl quickly shied away
He got angry and stammered, " st-st-st-stay!

Sure I'm a crab with pincers that stab
But inside my shell, it's as big as a cab"
She shrieked, "Get away!" gave a hell of a yell
With that he stuffed her under his  shell.

He crab-walked further on down the beach
Grabbing up all the girls within reach
Now he's ebullient, no longer up tight
Indeed, he's a veritable socialite.

  1. Damn, now I know where all the beach babes went, all except one; the one that illustrated this beauty!

  3. I love the shell's luminescence. This is brilliant work! And all the legs and arms. Now I know what you mean with labor "tedium," but hands and feet, it all came out brilliantly. Were you sitting too close to the water when you illustrated this, I see some salt water spray got onto your tablet. Now that is talent if I must say. I don't believe you conceived it this way. I can remember getting the very same stuff on my lens' when I was out in Oceanside, CA. doing photo documentation of an amphibious vehicle while in the Army. Even got sand in the lens while crawling under the vehicle in the sand to shoot a broken wheel with a 4x5 press camera.

So Miss Crabby, I have to update your Susan Seaside Showing by the Sea. At least I know who is holding all the Beach Babes, if I ever need one - maybe I should call him Hermit the Hog!

  4. Thank you John, I am glad you noticed the "spray on the wacom." It is fall out airbrush paint from the clouds. I liked the way it looked so I left it. Now, I know why!
